Now in its 13th season, New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series presents exclusive “pre-premieres” of new musicals in the early stages of development. New York Theatre Barn is keeping original live theatre alive during this unprecedented time. From our homes to yours, we are excited to share and experience the magic of live theatre in development.
This special installment of our 40 minute virtual live stream will profile 4 young writers under 20. The night with include excerpts from the new musicals: HIDE AND SEEK (by Danny Feldman) - which is a semi-autobiographical musical that chronicles the journey of a high school sophomore who struggles to come to terms with his newfound sexuality, TWO MAIDEN LADIES (by Abigail Greenwood) - which tells the untold true story of Charity Bryant and Sylvia Drake, who met in 1807 and lived together for the rest of their lives as a married couple, THE HIPPIE AND THE HITMAN (by Elise Marra) - which chronicles the lives of a hippie activist and a hitman for the Irish Republican Army converge in 1975 and THE PERFECT FIT (by Joshua Turchin) - which follows a driven child actor who is sabotaged by a vindictive stage parent who would do anything for her daughter to succeed
Featuring performances from Justin Albinder (Jersey Boys), Grace DeAmicis (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child), Elijah Caldwell (A Strange Loop) and Presley Ryan (Beetlejuice).
New York Theatre Barn will be giving 50% of its donations each week to a different charity that supports black lives and civil rights. The charity on July 1st will The Black Youth Project, which highlights the voices and ideas of Black millennials.
